This is a full time position for 4.25 years – based in Unama’ki or through a hybrid arrangement.
Start Date: February 2025
Salary Range: Starting at $61,059.

The Indigenous Learning and Knowledge Hub (ILKH) for Natural Climate Solutions is a new initiative funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada. The research and learning hub is an Indigenous-led national research project for climate change mitigation and biocultural diversity that will (1) engage with Indigenous communities to incorporate their views and values into natural climate solutions; (2) develop ways to integrate Two-eyed Seeing within existing economic tools; (3) identify conservation finance opportunities and barriers for Indigenous Nations; (4) examine ethical concerns; and (5) develop culturally appropriate indicators and measurements for assessment and monitoring.
As a UINR employee, you will take direction and report to the ILKH Advisory Committee and be responsible for coordinating and sustaining the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research projects, education and outreach, and knowledge mobilization.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop a plan for deliverables and monitor progress
- Develop key communications, training modules, events, reports, presentations, and other documents
- Collaborate and build partnerships with other national knowledge hubs, Indigenous networks, and academic institutions
- Identify and manage risks that might jeopardize the success of outcomes
- Assist with analyses of research data
- Facilitate focus group sessions and training with Indigenous participants
- Review, critically appraise, and interpret published literature
- Monitor the activities of research students to ensure that projects progress with predetermined timelines
- Liaise between the project centre and remote project sites and personnel
- Keep participants informed of project progress
- Assist in the development of Request for Proposals and contracts
- Supervise project staff and interns
Qualified candidates will have:
- Familiarity with Indigenous worldviews and values, and community engagement practices
- A minimum of 5 years of proven project management, including managing and reporting of federal funding programs
- Experience in reconciliation, Indigenization, equity, and inclusion
- Demonstrated ability to manage ongoing projects with different groups
- Ability to work on confidential and sensitive matters with tact and discretion
- Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, presentation, and organizational skills
- Strong proficiency with a variety of computer software applications
- Experience in academic research
- Proficient in English but knowledge of French and First Nation languages is an asset
