Commercial Fisheries Liason Officer
Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources is looking for a qualified candidate to fill our Commercial Fisheries Liaison Coordinator position.
This position is until March 31, 2013 with possibility of renewal.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years direct demonstrated experience in commercial fisheries operations and two years of experience in interpretation or application of fisheries management regulations/guidelines. Candidates must have experience working with First Nation Bands and be available for frequent travel up to five days at a time.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to participate in meetings, understand/interpret complex fisheries issues and produce comprehensive reports, command respect from fish harvesters, provide advice and assistance, and communicate well both orally and in writing in English.
An understanding of Mi’kmaq language and experience with advisory committees would also be desirable.
Full-time equivalent salaries, in the range of $50,000–$75,000, to be negotiated commensurate with qualifications.
